The plot fanned out from the house, offering openness and design flexibility. A magnificent oak tree symbolised the theme of ‘welcome,’ but the existing garden was dense with overgrowth. Thoughtful plant selection was needed to retain valuable screening while creating a more usable and inviting space. The project required seamless integration between the house and both the front and rear gardens, ensuring views and access were maximised.

Working closely with the client and their architect, we designed the house and gardens as a cohesive whole. Seating areas were positioned to optimise views and sunlight, including a morning dining space, shaded midday retreat, and an evening lounge deck. A woodland garden with curving paths, layered planting, and bespoke wood piles invites both wildlife and people to explore. The rustic garden office, nestled within the trees, offers a secluded space for work and music. At the front, a generous gravel drive and curved path lead to the entrance, where soft, flowing planting in silvers, blues, and whites enhances the welcoming atmosphere. Structural grasses and low hedging provide year-round definition, ensuring the garden remains beautiful in every season.
