This front garden in Pyrford needed a redesign that was would compliment the existing driveway. An Autumn peak was requested with structure and some colour through the seasons.
A grass path along the edge of the drive was needed for when four cars would be parked. Three large fir trees had recently been removed and the soil was so poor that it had to be completely replaced and lots of compost encorporated.
A new curved lawn was designed to balance the curve of the pathway. The soil was sculpted as a sloping bed that curved around the lawn and the planting was arranged in broard sweeping curves. The peak season of interest was autumn where grasses and colourful leaves on Acer campestre, Acer sangkaku and Whitch hazel and cornus will combine to form a firey and exciting autumn picture. Late flowering rudbekia and crocosmia will add splashes of vivid yellows and orange.
A spring bulb planting design promises bold splashes of red yellow and orange tulips to combine with red stems of cornus siberica and orandge stems of Cornus midwinter fire.
